Walnut Blasting
Modern engines have so many emissions control systems and "improved" fuel delivery now a days that unfortunately we have to deal with the likes of carbon build up more and more. Walnut blasting is a relatively new technique that in the automotive world, is incredibly effective at cleaning that carbon build up from the inlet tract of modern vehicles.

01
Why do it?
Carbon build up restricts the flow of air into the engine, it can also cause premature failure of valve seats, stems and seals. Cleaning this off allows the engine to breathe again and can even restore power and efficiency.

Before Blasting
This is an image of the inlet valves on a 2014 BMW 330d with the 3.0 Litre 6 Cylinder diesel engine. As can be seen in the image there's a lot of built up carbon to the point that the valve can barely be seen.

After Blasting
This image speaks for its self. The inlet valve is now completely free of any carbon deposits and able to flow air into the engine without restriction.
04
How much does it cost?
Generally, the cost is massively different between cars. On vehicles such as the BMW 330d, the cost is £25-£50 per cylinder. This is on top of the labour for removal and re installation of the inlet manifold and related components. We advise on a case by case basis so its best to give us a call!
